An NHS PCT (£55M Turnover NHS PCT Entity with 1600+ Staff Preparing for Major Transition)
An NHS PCT (£55M Turnover NHS PCT Entity with 1600+ Staff Preparing for Major Transition)
Problem/Situation:
A £55m turnover NHS PCT division with 1600+ staff was required by national NHS policy to prepare for externalisation as an independent entity. In particular the division had hitherto been sheltered by NHS commissioning structures and now needed to develop commercial capability to compete in a more hostile market place with increasing competition from ‘any willing provider’.
Solution:
Shaun Walsh was appointed as Interim Board Chairman and successfully developed effective working relationships with all key internal and external stakeholders. Together with the Executive Team BGS delivered the following over a period of 12m:
- Board leadership
- An assessment of the various strategic options
- Development of commercial capability within the organisation
- Processed the upcoming changes with the 1600+ staff
- Delivered improvements in service levels according to National Targets
Results:
The division concerned has recently successfully transitioned to an independent Community Interest Company.
